About Rising Stars Educational Program
The Rising Stars Educational Program has been created to contribute to the professional development of young physicians and research scientists in diabetes. The program seeks to further the professional and personal skill sets of the participants, via scientific, independent educational sessions on topics of interest. Participants also have the opportunity to strengthen their presentation and leadership skills via mentorship and opportunities to interact with world leaders in diabetes and their peers.
Basic program elements include an educational program, focusing on advances in diabetes therapy, technology, and progress toward a cure. Program participants are encouraged to submit an application for the Donnell D. Etzwiler International Scholars award. Etzwiler Scholars are invited to attend a week-long training program at the IDC in Minneapolis. Etzwiler Scholars also have other opportunities to engage in scholarly activities with the Rising Stars group.
The scientific curriculum is developed and conducted by the International Diabetes Center. The program is supported by an educational grant from Sanofi.
